HORIZONTAL LEADERSHIP

Workshop

What we need is adult leaders who lead adults. Leaders who care of the balance between giving and taking, who take others serious, trust a person and consider her/him capable of something, who demand agreements, are consistent and communicate horizontally, on the «eye level».

Reinhard K.Sprenger

The workshop gives a deep view of the sense of managerial work and main tasks of a modern leader. It gives a strong impulse to your individual managerial development.

The participants get acquainted with the four key qualities and tools of a horizontal leader: Steering, Coaching, Interference, Inspiration. They can feel each quality in different roles, both as a «boss» and «subordinate».

Through exercises, observations and discussions on methodological and practical aspects of management, you can evaluate to which extent each quality is developed in you and in others. Besides, you get aware in which situations to use this or that tool, how they are interconnected and what potential each quality has for your everyday work.

You will get aware:

  • of the difference between «traditional manager» and «modern leader»

  • of the advantages and role of «horizontal leadership»

  • of the main tasks of a modern leader

  • of the peculiarities of each leadership quality as a powerful managerial tool for everyday work with your subordinates

  • to which extent every quality is developed in you

You will train four horizontal leadership qualities: Steering, Coaching, Interference, Inspiration

You will make a conscious step in developing basic horizontal leadership competencies:

  • to steer the process of interaction with your subordinate so that she/he learns to solve her/his working problems on her/his own

  • to charge your subordinates with your vision, inspire them

  • to help your subordinate get aware of her/his personal difficulties and build the process of overcoming them in professional development on her/his own

  • to say «no» to your subordinate so that he accepts it and so that it helps her/him

About competition

The problem is that our social structure, our economic system, is tribal and competitve in nature and encourages us to be competitive between one another, as people and as organizations. I think we have reached a stage in the world when competitiveness is getting more and more inappropriate and we've got to focus much more on taking care of the human family.
